The Village a Child Is Born In Should Not Decide What They Are Taught.
Mothers from the surrounding villages are trained to carry the yogic morning into government schools — the same breath, the same stillness, the same attention practice that families elsewhere pay to learn. Nothing is charged. Nothing is accepted.
Every mother a guru. That is not a slogan, it is the delivery model.
Attention Is the One Thing Nobody Is Funding.
Government schools in these villages have teachers, mid-day meals and textbooks. What they do not have is any part of the day that trains a child’s attention before information is poured into it.
That is not a failing of the teachers. It is not in the syllabus, there is no budget line for it, and no one has ever been asked to deliver it.
A child who cannot settle cannot be taught. This is true in a metro classroom and in a village one.
An Old Idea, Wearing a New Sari.
The obvious solution is to send trained teachers. The obvious solution does not scale, costs money nobody has, and leaves when funding does.
So the trust trains the mothers instead. They already live in the village. They already know every child in it. They are not going anywhere when a grant ends, and no school has ever refused a mother at the gate.
In a gurukula the first teacher was always the household. We did not invent this. We noticed it still works.
Four Steps, and None of Them Cost Anything.
No qualification is required and no fee is charged at any point. What is required is that she keeps turning up.
She learns it herself
The practice first, on her own, for long enough that she is not teaching something she has only read about.
She is trained to hold a room
Thirty village children are not thirty polite ones. This part takes longer than the practice did.
The school is approached
The trust speaks to the headmaster and fits the session around the existing timetable, not over it.
She keeps going back
The same mother, the same children, week after week. Continuity is the whole method — a one-off session teaches nothing.
Not a Class. A Different Beginning to the Day.
Breath, stillness, and a few minutes of attention practice before the first lesson. It is the same opening the five-day immersion uses, stripped to what fits inside a school morning.
No fee, no registration, no book to buy, and no expectation that any of these children will ever attend a paid programme. That is the point. A child in a government school in Shikaripura should get the same opening to the day as a child in a Bengaluru apartment whose parents found us online.
The families who pay for the workshop are, without being told, funding the ones who never will.
This One Runs Entirely on Other People’s Money.
Nothing is charged to the schools or the families, so the cost sits with the trust. It is small per child and it is relentless.
